Yahoo mesenger opens then closes?

ive tried dl'ing it like a bigillion times. i could have a virus, not to sure. im on a laptop. it used to work for me a long time ago but then i tried trillian. ive only been using it cause i cant seem to get yim to work again. what should i do?
