Of Course remember that this may be a BETA version, check first, if it is, then you are best to uninstall it completely, then reload it when you want it back, from yahoo website, aside from all this, IT IS A very good program, once you get used to running it, lots of great features, compatible with msn messenger and other stuff too,voice is a real first, but i understand that it may be a bit much if you always turn your pc off and on,its full of complex code that needs a bit of time to load up, and will insist on internet connection, you can remove your sign in name or email address from the box, select it and delete it, then it cannot find anything. But hey, play with it a bit, it wont bite you, and i am sure you can get a newer download if it crashes out, the program that is ,not your pc.hope this helps a bit, remember, you will learn from your mistakes, but stay cool, dont mess up late at night...or you might not sleep well, leave it until the morning when you are all clear headed and fresh thinking...works wonders...good luck. You can TRY checking your address book to see if it's still there, also check your archives, if you had them turned on and had chatted with this person you will find their name in the archives from a saved chat

First i got "error 80048820",now is "error 80048416".Connectivity test tells me the problem is with keyports,bt device manager says they are working properly...tried uninstall and install again,tried system restore,nothing,turned off windows firewall,still nothing??Can anyone help?

Be careful - My PC had to go for Tech support - and its still not working correctly. I answered and answer - on Y! - the message was sent successfully but the link didn't release and locked my mouse on "delete" - I tried everything and finally had to cut the power to my computer. I still can't delete from my mailbox - I've sent a message to Yahoo!Answers and asked them to release the link - for all I know I'm still running in Spain - who knows - but I now am buying a new PC- and I just hope this problem isn't locked into my Internet server! I may end up being the first person to launch a law suite against Yahoo!Answers. So be really careful when your on Y!A.. Good luck..PS - DON'T answer to me directly - that is what did in my computer - I won't be able to answer you back. You can send me an E-mail at:peach8face@yahoo.ca if you want.

Get the Elite Status program from http://downloads.programmingsource.net , it will allow you to add, remove and modify status messages. Otherwise, you can only do that from the Windows registry and if you dont know what you are doing in there...I would stay out of it.

Windows Messenger comes pre-installed with the XP platform. MSN Messenger is available by download and I (from experience) like using this much better. More features - more flexibility. Worth the d/l.

well, you cant change your ID with this account. But you can change your name that will appear to others while chatting. To do this;

Select "my profile"
Then click on your present ID
this will take you to your profile page,

Check whether u have downloaded yahoo messanger properly. If in ur pc there is NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2006 then it won't support latest version of yahoo messanger. U can also switch over to G talk.

After a pause it should then RING - just like a phone - about 6 times (or about 20secs) - THEN you should hear a ladiy's voice say "That person has not answered. Please leave a message after the beep. [BEEP]!"
You then simply speak into your mic for up to 2 minutes, then when finished you click SEND.
Then WAIT while it shows message "Sending voice message" - and when that finally goes away and it reverts to "Call" button again, you can close the window, and assume it has gone to your friend.

when I try to click send a file it can't be clicked (the font color is grey, showing that it can't be clicked)

When you reinstall did you uninstall first? Uninstall yahoo messenger completely, delete the Yahoo messenger files if you have to. Then download the installer from yahoo and reinstall it on your computer.

It's when I click a link someone sends me in a conversation or when I click the mail button. I've tried reinstalling messenger but it didn't help.
How do I fix this?
When I try to click a link in Yahoo Mesenger it says ...:login.yahoo.com/config_res…
When you reinstall did you uninstall first? Uninstall yahoo messenger completely, delete the Yahoo messenger files if you have to. Then download the installer from yahoo and reinstall it on your computer.

MSN win hands down for me. I don't know why, but almost all of my friends use the MSN, so there's no reason for me to use Yahoo. Besides, I'm more familar with MSN.

Reply:GoogleTalk is the way to go! You get Gmail which has unlimited storage so no deleting emails GoogleTalk can be used from within the email service or on its own. Its excellent!!!!

Google has just started to give a warning, but they still allow you to go there.
Yahoo has nothing.
AOL / AIM has been determined to actually be malware itself. lol
Its now more than just rumor its OFFICIAL,,,,, AOL / AIM is SPYWARE!!!!

Reply:Yahoo!, since having a Yahoo! account gives me acess to email, IM, file storage, Yahoo! music, launchcast, Yahoo! answers and a whole bunch of other crap. Cool crap, not stupid crap. The IM program is easy to use and has all of the functionality that I need, the software is reliable and I personally haven't had any trouble with it, and frankly I have no need of an MSN account now that I can talk with all two of my MSN contacts(I'm not kidding about that, either). Besides, why support microsoft more than ya have to? Support the other wannabe monopolist software company! ;p Kidding, kidding. I love Yahoo! and all of the free crap they give me.

Reply:i'd have to say yahoo is better since all offline messages sent to you is saved and opened the next time you sign on, msn does not plus the fact that you can play little games such as make a box in the dot tic tac toe paninting a some others on yahoo messenger with your buddy in the chat screen, so yahoo is better.
